this, as you all probably know, is myself, grace, and genie.
these two hold outrageously expensive ocean view properties in my heart.

this is us, together maybe for the last time before our enormous piles of summer activities begin. for the most part, we wait the whole year for our lovely, busy, hot and humid summers, and each of us jam packs them like a backpacker's suitcase. we've got shoulders to tan, musicians to yell at, doors to canvass, old friends to hug, guest beds to sleep in, pictures to take, phone calls to make, flip flops to break, classics to read, burritos to eat, secrets to burn, other people's LIVES to learn..and everything inbetween.

there's this thing about the best of interpersonal bonds, the thing that really allows you to think,um, wow, i guess i've transcended the confines of my thick old bones and have tied myself, in some strange, fierce, metaphora/physical way to these people. the thing that makes you say, with such sudden, flushing sincerity, i LOVE you! not in the jittery, roses and chocolates, sex&marriage way. in the friend way. the thing is this: by some flip of the switch, these people know who you are. you can't explain it, because it's not a trait they have or a wisdom they've pursued, it's just the way they are. they see through your skin.

i love the two of you because of this.

so as we go off on our nutty crunchy summer globe trotting summer adventures, i just want to thank you. for chinese food, borrowed tshirts, and midnight semi lucid phone conversations. for being there for me, but also, for letting me be there for you. for unabashedly telling me when i'm being a bitch. and for forgiving me afterwords. for being so silly, and snazzy, and smart. and for everything i can't begin to mention.

shut up. you know exactly what i mean.
